The Fung Brothers (@fungbros) donated $1,000 worth of pizza, drinks, and sneakers to the people of New York City, celebrating both Labor Day and David’s (@davidbfung) birthday, in their own special way. They shared their experience on their Instagram and YouTube pages by documenting the process from the initial pizza giveaway to a 3v3 basketball tournament they set up for kids.
Andrew (@andrewjfung) and David Fung (@davidbfung) started the day by buying and distributing 40 pizzas ($400) to people in need. Afterwards, they visited Foot Locker and bought four pairs of Air Force 1 sneakers ($360) as the prize for the winning team of a basketball tournament they arranged at Grand Street Park. The remaining $240 were used to buy drinks from local Chinese stores and bodegas as a treat for the kids at the park. To make sure everyone was having a good time while staying safe, the Fung Brothers also distributed masks for everyone to wear during the tournament.
The Fung Brothers are known for their popular YouTube videos which focus on Asian American content. They commented that their Labor Day giveaway is important because “times are tough and it’s good to just do something nice.” They also included a list of charities below their posts to inspire people to donate and help others.
